Read what our group has to say about the Norway Cup experience!
It took me just a matter of hours to fall in love with Norway Cup and the country itself on my first visit back in 2011, and I have been back every year possible since. Norway is beautiful, the people are welcoming and they manage to organise a pretty good football tournament too!
For me it is the perfect place to both kick off the season and enjoy a summer holiday at the same time, in the company of both long-serving people who have become good friends, and new additions to the group whom are always made as welcome as possible, all in one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. What’s not to like?
Paul Mosley, Northumberland FA
In 2003 I saw an advert in our local RA magazine offering places at Norway cup. I knew nothing about Norway cup and had previously experienced USA Cup in 2000 - I gave it a shot. 20 consecutive summers later, I’ve served as a referee, an observer and also most proudly as British Referees coordinator handing over to Luke in recent times.
What do I love about Norway Cup? I love absolutely everything the experience gives to each and every person. For some it’s a week or so away from family work doing what we love. For me: it was preseason as I was awful at track running! Others it was merely a holiday. We’ve seen many develop into football league and premier league officials as well as some foreign colleagues knocking on the door of international football in their own country
I’m proud to say I developed as a referee, as an observer, as a coach and a leader through Norway cup. I’ve made memories for ever, incredible friends, laughter and even inherited a godson!
I urge everyone to give it a go regardless of level and objective of the tournament.
James Campbell, Worcs. FA
My first referee visit to the Norway Cup in 1998 was an experience well organised by a group of nice helpful people and ended with a final appointment as linesman in the Bislet stadium. Truly rememberable.
I look forward to supporting this competition which enables me to meet referee friends from many countries, and to continue to enjoy this competition as it is always a wonderful and interesting experience.
